Dr. Marcia Russell is a Jamaican-American, trained asMedical Researcher. She spent her childhood years in Jamaica and attended Meadowbrook High School and Kingston Technical High School. She went to Duffs Business College and thereafter proceeded to the United States where she graduated from York College, New York with Bachelors in Psychology; she also has Master’s degree in Biology from Long Island University. She also proceeded to the Caroline University, MN for her PHD in clinical research and Psychology, after which she had a brief taste in Hartland University where she had another Degree in Science (DSC) from Long Island University.
An Academic of high repute and a proficient researcher, Russell left Columbia Presbyterian University in the USA to Nigeria to peruse a career in Tropical Medicine. Her research finding on water-borne diseases was published in the American Journal of tropical Medicine and Hygiene. It was an original research and the first research of its kind. Different universities across the globe have recognized her contributions to the field of Medicine especially in Africa and have so honoured her with highly esteemed Awards. She is a respectable member of the African Mission Board and also a member of the congress of Racial Equality (C.O.R.E) in New York USA.
Presently, she is involved in a research project on the Causes, nature and prevention of hypertension, diabetes, stroke and to achieve this goal, she has organized several Seminars/Workshops..
Marcia is strong believer of health as a human right, she has been recognized as Ambassador Human Rights to the United Nation and permanent secretary in Lagos Nigeria. She is currently double as PROFOH director of Public Health and director of missions in Africa in these positions she continues to work towards reduction of mortality rates resulting from preventable or curable diseases and extending help to the less fortunate across the continent of Africa.
